Great dock, unless you have a Surface and want to connect external monitors

I really wanted to like this. I have so many Anker products, and have used Anker docks in the past. Everything in the description of the product is true. Tons of ports. Lots of power. There's nothing wrong with this dock... except... it has trouble waking up external monitors that are attached to it when either powering your laptop on, or returning from sleep. Is this my laptop's issue? I dont know - it works fine when the external monitor is plugged directly into the laptop. My current laptop is a Microsoft Surface Laptop 5. But waking up external monitors through the dock was a labor of love. Sometimes they'd fire up. Other times I had to open and close by laptop lid multiple times. Other times I had to power cycle the entire dock. Finally I just gave up, and ordered a Surface Dock (OEM from Microsoft) and that now works flawlessly. So... maybe there's a mismatch between the Surface and this Anker dock, or maybe the Anker dock just doesnt wake up external monitors well? Hard to say. Either way, i'm way past the return period, so i'm just choking this up to a loss.

Better than expected

Worked great; even allows me to charge my laptop through it instead of having to use the charger

Great device unless you need to run with 2-3 monitors and a laptop screen!

There's a lot to unpack with this device. First of all, if you don't need it for dual monitors, you will LOVE this item. I work from home and constantly have to run with 3 screens (ASUS Strix laptop, and dual Acer monitors). This device works beautifully for all the drives, dongles and charging ports. I even have 3 open on the front. However, the issue is the dual monitors. It will start working fine until the laptop sleeps or reboots, then the secondary monitor will refresh at 640x480 resolution. Only One monitor. If I switch the port they are plugged into, the other monitor will drop to it. If I take the HDMI to the laptop, it works well. Its not the HDMI cable, I have replaced them 3x with 8K cables. There is something just not right with specifically that feature. The only solution I have it to leave one HDMI plugged into the Anker and the other into the laptop.

Nice product but read the fine print if you want more than 2 monitors

I've been an Anker fan for a long time and was hopeful for this dock. The dock itself is built excellent and looks great (my wife even commented on how nice it looks! A rarity!) but there's very real concerns if you want more than 2 monitors. If you only want 2 monitors, look no further.I purchased it and set it up only to realize that it requires DisplayLink (a 3rd party software that is hit or miss, not reliable in my experience) to support more than 2 monitors. To Anker's credit, it does mention this in the description but it's not obvious.Apple machines only support 2 monitors per USB-C/thunderbolt port. The ONLY way to have more than 2 monitors without third party software is dual Thunderbolt chips.
