Great earbuds, but, gimmicky

These look and feel like black AirPod Pros. I think they might have been designed for people who want the look and feel, but, are not willing to pay the price tag. It doesn’t only look the part but it’s also packed with a bunch of cool, modern features which makes it perform at a flagship tier. Upon first opening the case and removing the “battery tab” it instantly popped up on my nearby phone to initiate connection. I accepted and I could be all done there, ready to listen, but there’s an app…and with this app the earbuds can be customised to your liking. You can adjust: - the profiles for the noise cancellation - Sound profiles (EQ) - En(dis)able gaming mode - Customize actions for the touch control, etc Within a few seconds of launching the app there was a notification for a firmware update. I followed the instructions and allowed it to apply the update, which was done in about 2-3mins. To be honest, I am not sure what improvements came from it, but, I hope this is a sign of continued support for at least the next couple of years. In terms of actual usage, the default rubbers that came installed seems to fit my ears well, but this was just while I was sitting at my desk. The good news is it came with 4 other sizes which I can switch if it becomes uncomfortable over an extended period or during workouts. For my type of non-audiophile listening, these preformed well, especially since I was able to configure a custom sound profile (EQ) to match my taste. At the end the bass was sufficient, however, I found if I cranked the volume too high it got a bit distorted. (If you like to blast your music beware) Other than that the mids and highs were clear and decent for my needs. For calls, I spoke to someone and they said I was “crystal clear” this was while I was in a relatively quiet setting so I’ll have to come back and update it when I use it in an noisy environment.

Fantastic value, consistently great sound quality and ANC.

I needed to get a pair of earbuds for cycling and have had absolutely amazing experiences with Anker in the past so I had to try these. I've used the P40i before but gave them away to a family member so grabbing the most updated version made sense to me Pros: - unboxing experience is high quality - everything feels fitted and clean, the binding is just a single strip of tearable cardboard (very smartphone unboxing-like) and everything is neatly packed in. The headphones themselves, a USB cable and some silicone style eartips in various sizes. Very frustration free and pleasant. - connecting to my phone was seamless, this device is fully compatible with Google Fast Pair on my Samsung phone, just needed to open them, remove the plastic from the contacts on the case and it entered pairing mode in seconds. 2 taps later I was connected - first impressions on fit are positive. I have very sensitive skin around my ears that get dry and itchy easily, these earbuds sat comfortably in my ear canals, minimal pressure and the seal and passive noise isolation were exceptional - the Soundcore app install was quick and supports disabling gestures (which I did, just my reference), noise cancellation adjustments, latency modes and a custom band EQ (I recommend the dynamic one, sounds great for pop music) - the bass response on these is fantastic, really satisfying thump without sounded flabby. - charges via USB C to C, PD chargers worked no problem so all my phone and laptop chargers charge it up fine - the case itself snaps open easily one handed and the tension of the hinge is perfectly satisfying to close without feeling loose - ANC first impressions are wonderful, really great at blocking out white noise like the loud office AC, florescent lights, and overall chatter. Compared to the P40i which blocked maybe 30%, these are closer to 60-70%. I genuinely get immersed with these in. - an updated after using these for about 5 days, I've only had to recharge them for the first time on day 6 of daily, repeated use. Battery life is outstanding as most Anker headphones. 12 hours on one charge is amazing and gets me through the work day without taking them out with full confidence. Cons: - microphones are very average to below average, but will work for casual calls. Wouldn't use these for work calls, very garbled - case doesn't double as a phone stand like the P40i did, miss that - slotting the earbuds back into the case isn't as reliable as the previous model, it misses and doesn't line up unless I really slow down and do it with intent, not a huge deal but it can be annoying when I'm out or holding my keys/phone.

Another Great Product from a Consistently Great Brand. I Love Anker!

Before receiving these earbuds to review, I had already purchased well over a dozen Anker products with my own money (as regular customer) and without any type of compensation or incentive. I have genuinely been buying and loving their products since 2018. I have bought everything from charging cords, earbuds, over the ear headphones, power banks and wall plugs. So I have a lot of experience with their products, and do not say this lightly when I say that I absolutely 😍 love these earbuds. There is a reason I have continued purchasing their products for more than 8 years. The Soundcore P42i are true wireless noise cancelling earbuds with Bluetooth 6.1, up to 55 dB of noise reduction and support for SBC, AAC and LDAC audio. They are also compatible with Hi-Res Wireless Audio. You can use them for music, podcasts, audiobooks, phone calls, videos, gaming, commuting, travelling or simply blocking out some of the background noise around you. The battery life is fantastic. The item description states tou can get up to 12 hours of listening from the earbuds and up to 56 hours with the charging case when using the normal listening mode. If you have noise cancelling turned on, the battery life is closer to 8.5 hours from the earbuds and about 40 hours with the case. A quick 10 minute charge can also provide up to 3.5 hours of additional listening time, which is extremely convenient if you realize at the last minute that the battery is low. The case supports both wired and wireless charging. The earbuds also have wearing detection which means they can recognize when they have been removed or placed back into your ears. The IP55 rating provides some protection from dust, sweat and splashes, making them suitable for commuting, everyday errands and workouts, although I would not treat them as completely waterproof or submerge them in water. Pairing the earbuds to a device is simple, straightforward and easy. You can connect the earbuds to two devices at the same time, which is very handy especially (if like me) you are often juggling between a cell phone, tablet, laptop or desktop simultaneously. It is a quiet convenience that you grow to appreciate not having to constantly disconnect from one device to be able to pair to another. There is a cool gaming mode feature and the touch controls can be customized through the Soundcore app. You can adjust the equalizer, change the controls, try the ear tip fit test, use HearID and access additional sound features without being stuck with one generic factory setup. 👂👈 General Taps and Gestures 👂👈 These are the present tap/gestures. You can customize them to suit your preference, by downloading the Soundcore app. LEFT EARBUD Double tap - Skip to the next track Press and hold for 2 seconds - Switch between noise cancellation and ambient sound Double tap during a call - Answer the call Press and hold for 2 seconds DURING a call - Reject or end the call RIGHT EARBUD Double tap - Play or pause audio Press and hold for 2 seconds - Switch between noise cancellation and ambient sound Double tap during a call - Answer the call Press and hold for 2 seconds during a call - Reject or end the call ⚫Circular Button on the Bottom Uses⚫ Manual Bluetooth Pairing: Put both earbuds inside the case, leave the lid open, then press and hold the button for about 3 seconds. The front LED should flash white, which lets you know that the earbuds are ready to pair with your desired device Factory Reset: Put both earbuds in the case, leave the case open and then press and hold the button for about 10 seconds until the front LED flashes rapidly 3 times. This clears the earbuds existing connection information, so they will need to be paired again afterward. I found these to be quite comfortable. A few times when I would look for the case to go put my earbuds on, I would be momentarily confused until I realized that I was already wearing them 😅. However, the sound and fit can be adjusted to suit YOUR personal preference. The correct ear tip size makes a major difference because a secure seal improves comfort, sound quality and noise cancellation. I appreciate having the ability to customize the audio instead of being told that I need to buy a completely different and more expensive pair of earbuds just to get a feature or sound profile that works better for me. That is one of the reasons I have and will continue using Anker products. Whenever I purchase something from them I never feel like the only goal is to convince me to spend an extra $20 or an extra $100 on a more premium model. I can confidently choose the product that fits my actual needs and budget. Whether I need a basic charging cord, a power bank or a more advanced pair of earbuds, I have consistently found that there is a reliable option without being made to feel like the lower priced item is intentionally inadequate. Their customer support is another major reason I trust the brand. I know that I can reach out before purchasing if I need help...

Great set of buds!

Anker always puts out some fairly decent earbuds and headphones for their respective price points the P42i definitely deliver. Sound quality they are fairly decent, they definitely have that fun sound signature with a thumping bass but overall its not completely overpowering, i am not finding any details lacking in the sound signature, its a warm and fun listening experience. Testing out the ANC i found that while its definitely not the top of the line it definitely helps to lower the volume of your surroundings. Sitting in my living room it drops the volume of the tv by like 3/4, outside cutting the grass you could still hear the mower pretty good but comparing ANC on and off it was definitely bringing the volumes down considerably. The touch control while they work great I hate touch controls lol So being able to turn that off is big selling point and thankfully when you pull up the app you can. Overall a great set of earbuds!
