A30i - Great thoughts, lacking execution

Just as a disclaimer, I received this set for free. I Only paid freight.

Green packaging - as little plastic as possible. Love to see it.

I think the lipstick design is refreshing, and the mechanism works very well. Overall the device and earpieces look nice and somewhat premium, but thhey do not feel premium.

Battery life is good and charging works well and is quick.

These Earbuds can be controlled via the soundcore app. And I like that. Though I would really have liked to see a feature to locate the earbuds, when lost.

Sound quality is okay, but very bass heavy out of the box. This set has EQ in the Soundcore app, but I found this bass heavy profile was “baked in”, so no amount of EQ gets rid of the bass-heavy nature.

This set also offers noise cancelling and transperancy modes - in my mind, a little unusual for this budget-friendly set. I regret to say; it did not work very well. Not the worst i ever tried, but in the bottom end of the list.

In general, in-ears is a hard category to do well because of comfort issues. The A30i is just not very comfy to wear, and the seal is okay, at best. I was expecting to use the set for running, but I tried every eartip, every combination - and they kept falling out or hurting my ears.

My recommendation: buy something else.
